FAQ

Can my dog do skijoring?

Dogs of all breeds, shapes, and sizes are welcome, as long as you respect their limits. For specific concerns, consult your vet.

Do I need special equipment?

To get started with skijoring, you'll need skis (classic or skating), ski poles, a well-fitting pulling harness for your dog, a 2.8-meter bungee leash, and a skiing belt for yourself. These will ensure both you and your dog are comfortable, safe, and ready to enjoy the thrill of skijoring together. Find out more by joining the course!

What skiing level should I have to follow the program?

You should be comfortable skiing independently.

My dog doesn't know how to pull. Can we still join the program?

The Couch to skijoring training program is designed for skiing with your dog actively pulling. If your dog isn’t confident in pulling yet, we recommend starting with basic pulling training before joining. Learn how to get started here!

How old should my dog be?

Your dog should be fully grown, usually between 12 to 18 months old, depending on their breed and individual development. Older dogs can also join, they just might not pull as hard or fast as they did when they were younger.

Always keep an eye out for signs of fatigue and adjust the activity to fit your dog's age and needs. If you have any concerns, consult your veterinarian.
